Fun Holiday Family Activities

With the children having time off of school during the holidays it can be hard to keep the occupied. There are lots of things that you can do with your children that can be fun and will keep the whole family active together. Fun holiday activities don’t have to break your bank account either. There are cost effective ways to everyone occupied and active, without having to spend a fortune on ski lift packages, or event sign ups.

Some fun holiday family activities include:

- Ice Skating
Don’t worry if you don’t own a pair of ice skates, most places you can rent them. Also skating lessons are usually available, and there are skating aids for young children like a gate or chair to push, so the whole family can be involved.

- Sledding or Tubing
The rush of the cool air, the joy of coming down a hill at a fast speed is loved by everyone. It’s great exercise too because in most cases you have to trek back up the hill, that works all sorts of muscles not to mention is a great cardio workout.

- Building Snow Forts
Grab your family and head to the back yard, build a snow fort. Have fun with it by using food coloring. If you split your family up you can play a game of capture the flag with your forts, the building and the game are great ways to be active.

- Fun Outdoor or Indoor Scavenger Hunt
There are also tons of fun indoor activities that can be included. You can do the scavenger hunt inside. Before starting write out lists of at least 5 items for each family member to find in the house. Try and choose odd items that will keep them on the move and searching.

Be creative, have fun, challenge your family but most importantly do it together. Holidays are meant to be spent with the ones you love.
